After receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Manitoba, Merrilee joined a mid-size regional firm and earned her CA designation in 2003. During this time, she gained excellent experience working with companies and individuals operating in industries including professional corporations (medical and legal), manufacturing, film, and not-for-profits.
She left Winnipeg and moved to Toronto in 2006 as a newlywed and decided to venture out of public accounting. Merrilee spent 10 years working downtown Toronto at a Self-Regulatory Organization auditing the head offices of companies in the financial services industry across Canada. Through assisting the Enforcement and IT departments on special projects, she applied her financial expertise in new ways and gained extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services industry.
In 2016, Merrilee decided that she really enjoyed public accounting, and returned to public practice at Deeth & Co. LLP.
In her spare time, Merrilee enjoys cycling, baking, and spending time outdoors with her husband and two young children. She also appreciates art and has travelled to Europe and South Africa.
